Benefits

What people are saying about us:

"BRAKE SAFE takes the guesswork out of brake adjustment...because the three indicator pins are brightly coloured, they are easily visible just by looking underneath the power unit or trailer...the whole process takes just a few minutes, meaning substantial cost saving in both time and money, especially with heavy fines for out-of-adjustment brakes."
Dale Holman
President of Truck Watch Service Inc.

A leading truck inspection services company.

"BRAKE SAFE'S stroke indicators are the only way to go for guaranteed, accurate brake adjustments.  The devices are inexpensive and easy to install.  The actually make daily inspections practical.  With the increasing concern and publicity around truck safety, Brake Safe is insurance against safety incidents, road side detentions and bad publicity.  I recommend Brake Safe's system for any fleet, large or small."

Diagnostic Aids

bullet2 Brake Safe® provides an accurate visual measurement of brake stroke travel.
bullet2 Brake Safe® will identify problems directly attributed to manual or automatic slack adjusters while performing an air brake application.

A) If the clevis pin pointer or clamp on pointer only moves 1/4" to 3/8" this would be an indication that the slack is seized or defective.
B) If the clevis pin pointer or clamp on pointer show out of adjustment this is an indication that:

1) the brakes need to be adjusted
2) the slack adjuster is worn or defective
3) the slack adjuster has not been triangulated or set up correctly

C) If the slack adjuster is functioning normally, and there is minimal movement of the clevis pin or clamp on indicator of 1/4" to 3/8" this could be an indication of:

1) the diaphragm in the air chamber is weak or may have a hole in it, but you can not detect an airleak.
2) there could be other deficient air inside the brake chamber.

D) If the slack adjuster is functioning normally, and has been set up properly and Brake Safe® is still indicating an out of adjustment condition, this could be an indication that:

1) there is a cracked brake drum
2) a brake drum could be out of round (oval shaped)While performing an emergency brake test:

E) While performing an emergency brake test:

1) Minimal movement of the clevis pointer or clamp on indicator would identify a weak or broken spring in the brake chamber. (This is almost impossible to determine by looking in the viewing port of a brake chamber)

F) Brake Safe® greatly reduces a mechanics diagnostic time determining air brake deficiencies, and needless re-adjustment of air brakes.
G) Brake Safe® will extend the operational life of slack adjusters. The more times a slack adjuster is adjusted, the shorter its life cycle.
